Sunflower Festival 2006!
Photos Courtesy of Susan Van Amerongen.

Thanks to all of the staff, volunteers, and especially visitors of Gorman Heritage Farm who came out for the event - over 2500 visitors came to the Farm over the two days of the Festival!

We had acres of sunflowers, and lots of people to enjoy them!

The weather was a little chilly, but it didn't stop volunteers Susan Van Amerongen, Carlida Hopper, Monica Mazzone, Barb Rohs and Jack Burgdorf from extending our guests a warm welcome!
Lots of families visited the festival - most came back with armloads of flowers!

Families hunted high and low for the prettiest flowers!
There were so many flowers, each seemed more beautiful than the last.
Flowers were not the only attraction ... families enjoyed the corn maze as well.
Some took their time ...
...while others took a speedier route!
This year's maze was filled with fun and informative facts about corn, the farm, and the history of this area.
The weather was clear, but cold...the term "frosty morning" comes to mind.
REALLY frosty morning!
Hayrides were one of the most popular activities. Volunteer Andy Stark took his turn as a driver
Families rode out to the sunflower fields on the hay wagons ...
...then rode back when they had picked their flowers.
These ladies found just what they were looking for.
There was plenty to do in the garden area ... volunteer Bob Lux took charge of the kids' activities in the big yellow tent.
Education Manager Julie Semm "pitched in" with a pumpkin ring toss game!
As always, Jack Burgdorf took his turn as a golf cart driver!
Our friends from the East Fork State Park Mounted Search and Rescue were among the groups that did horsemanship demonstrations.
Quilt Raffle ticket sales were brisk, thanks to volunteer Diane Lemen's idea to hang the quilt on the barn door!
Families left tired ...
... but happy!  We'll see everyone at the next festival ... Shearfest 2007!
Right now,  Associate Director Sandra Murphy and volunteer Susan Van Amerongen will get some much-needed rest!
