ABOUT GORMAN HERITAGE FARM

We Love a Parade!

Gorman Heritage Farm has hit the road a couple of times this spring and summer, joining other marching and rolling units in two parades - Memorial Day in Blue Ash and July 4 in Sharonville.  Thanks to our young volunteers, who wear out their throwing arms tossing out candy to watchers along the route.  Thanks also to our older volunteers, who walked (or roller skated) the entire route, handing out promotional coupons for our summer Civil War Reenactment.

We had a lot of fun on July 4 in Sharonville, but not without cost - just before we were ready to head for our lineup position, the skies opened up and rain POURED down for about 15 minutes! When the storm ended, Ryan thought he'd take the tractor for a spin!
Ryan and Erik, nephews of Marketing Manager Vicki Foster, came from Boston to join us for the parade!
The tractor looked great!  Freshly washed and decorated with GHF sunflowers and flags, we were something to see!
What a great group!  We had 4-H families, farm families and summer camp staff represented!
Here we are at the staging area - the weather's cleared, and we're ready to go!
Our efforts were well rewarded - we won this great trophy for the "Most Representative of the Theme - Old Glory"  Great job, everyone!
Memorial Day in Blue Ash was a great day for the Farm, thanks to all of the young people who volunteered, and we were cheered by friends of the farm all along the route. Our wagon riders threw 30 lbs. of Tootsie Rolls to the assembled multitudes!
Event Manager Vicki Foster and Associate Director Sandra Murphy took charge of the project.

 Everybody loves bagpipes!
This was the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department Pipes and Drums.
The colorguard gave us some historical perspective.
While the Cincinnati Police Department showed off the latest in motorcycle technology.
This was a Boy Scout float ... very impressive!
The scouts held the flag up through the entire parade!
Shriners were on hand to entertain everyone!

Friends of the farm cheered us all along the route...
 Thanks for the support!
Patriotism was the order of the day!
The wagon looked great ...
...from any angle!
A group of therapy dogs followed the GHF Wagon.
Thanks go to our young volunteers, who threw 30 pounds of tootsie rolls to spectators along the route!
